Ash Wednesday Welcome: Lenten Resources

Updated: Mar 2, 2020

Another Ash Wednesday has arrived, and so another Lenten season for us to focus on repentance and offering ourselves up to God as a living sacrifice. Here are a few great resources that we use during this season.

First, Fr. Greg Wilcox from St. Joseph's Anglican Church in New Braunfels, TX has written a wonderful and concise guide to fasting and feasting for Anglicans. You may find it here.

Second, Fr. Wilcox has also written a Guide to Lent that many of our parishioners have found quite helpful. You may find it here.

Third, The Sacramentalists are doing a series of podcasts on Lent. Last week they focused on Confession and this week the Litany. Check it out here!

Fourth and finally and speaking about Confession, I came across a wonderful essay written by Fr. Pusey titled: “Hints for a First Confession.” Even if you have made your First Confession, it offers some wonderful advice on examination of conscience and is a stirring reminder of our need for Confession. Let me know what you think!

PS: Fr. Mark and I wrote a piece titled "Take It Easy and Enjoy Lent" where we critique more "extreme" (and well-branded) versions of Lenten disciplines.
